Drive-In Pallet Rack

Drive-in pallet racks are designed for high-density storage of like items. As the name implies, the racks are designed to allow the forklift to drive-in to the rack from the operating aisle. Forklifts drive into the rack to access pallets two or more pallets deep. Used only with the same size and weight pallets, it is a first-in, last-out system (FILO). Since quick rotation of product is desirable, we see drive-in racks used typically in cold storage facilities and at grocery distribution centers.

Design of drive-in rack requires the same basic information as that required for selective pallet racks, plus more complete specifications pertaining to the lift truck.

Less selectivity but higher density than conventional selective rack
Drive-in pallet racks require fewer aisles, it provides better cube utilization
Used only with same size and weight pallets, normally, same SKU (stock keeping unit) type
Drive-in pallet racks normally ideal for cooler and freezer storage
