Cantilever racks are used for the storage of long objects such as pipes, tubes, lumber, metal extrusions, flat sheets or unwieldy shaped items (furniture). Cantilever racks have a center upright column and supports cantilevered arms extending outward on one side or both sides (single or double-sided rack). To design cantilever rack, the fundamental information of the unit load data must be determined, i.e., length, height and width, and weight. This, with the handling equipment, with determine the length and support capacity of the cantilever arm, which in turn determines the number of arms and capacity of the column.
